We're looking for you to join our CDN Architecture, Network & Operations Team
What you’ll do
- As a CDN Reliability Engineer (m/f/d), you'll be a member of the Sky Group Content Delivery team within Sky Group Communications and Infrastructure
- You'll be focused on operating, improving, and scaling mission-critical services we provide to the business, including our video delivery CDN, monitoring, data analysis, storage management and integration with key systems across the Sky Group, located in the UK, Germany, and Italy
- Your job is to operate, optimize, troubleshoot, and configure content delivery systems so that Sky¿s customers can enjoy our great content in all Sky territories
- You'll form and operate tools, automations, visualization, and monitoring to facilitate the operations and optimization of the Sky Group Multi-CDN infrastructure
- No day is the same – you'll collaborate with other CDN reliability engineers (m/f/d) and delivery teams at Sky Group level to ensure effective monitoring as well as logging on and off the server and connecting raw indicators to the metrics that matter to our customers
- Your tasks also include deploying and managing basic and advanced log processing systems
- As communicative interface, you¿ll work closely with key third parties like Akamai, Google, Amazon and Netflix on new products, reliability initiatives and service reporting
What you’ll bring
- You've successfully completed a degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics/Physics, or a related technical background involving software/system engineering and you've at least 5-6 years of professional experience in the areas of infrastructure / IT-security / Cloud / Web / OTT / Streaming
- In the past you were able to gain some experience of production-scale deployment and operation of open-source applications such as, Apache Traffic Server, Envoy, Squid, Varnish, HAProxy, nginx and you're also familiar with virtualisation/container technologies and their Cloud equivalents on Google, AWS, or Azure
- You've a good understanding of content delivery, how it drives Internet traffic today and a curiosity to see how deep the rabbit-hole goes
- Your automation and sysadmin knowledge, including common Linux commands distinguishes you as well as your expertise with performance tuning, iptables, security hardening and software repositories
- You'll bring knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP protocols and how they fit together, including IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP, DNS, HTTP – knowledge of more complex protocols like BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS and QoS mechanisms are useful
- You've operational experience in running a production infrastructure 24×7 at scale and a passion for reliability, customer experience and relating your technical knowledge to deliver it
- Availability for On-call support is a matter of course for you
- Good English skills round off your profile and working in an international environment encourages you
