What you’ll do
- You'll act as the regional CDN and network architect (m/f/d) for Germany, working with other technology areas and sharing a point of view to teams within Sky Group to plan, design and implement the distribution of Sky content over IP
- You'll be involved in working with the German Product and Proposition teams to align local requirements with the Group's CDN roadmap and long-term strategy (private CDN, global CDN)
- As a communicative interface, you'll coordinate with colleagues in capacity planning, design, engineering, and project management to drive the CDN architecture as we grow and evolve our offerings while keeping in mind the specifics of the German market
- You'll be responsible for leading regional PoP extensions and technical integration with German ISPs in collaboration with the Engagement Manager
- You'll be a motivator to the definition of standards for CDN usage, placement, and optimization with the Sky Group architecture team
- You'll tackle tasks ranging from researching new technologies to reviewing the feasibility of vendor proposals in the context of Sky's requirements, budget, and objectives
- You'll support engineering in solving CDN related bugs and performance issues
What you’ll bring
- You've a degree in computer science or a related subject or equivalent certifications as well as at least 5-6 years of relevant experience
- In addition to hands-on experience with CDN or network management and architecture, you've knowledge of general Internet technologies such as DNS and HTTP
- You've been involved in the architecture of secure and stable networks or systems and know how to translate this into future designs
- You bring experience and a detailed understanding of CDN mechanisms, CDN decision systems (including multi-CDN and private CDN), and one or more large commercial CDNs, e.g. Akamai, Edgio, AWS CloudFront, etc.
- You work in an international environment and can lead conversations about CDNs, give presentations to executives, and build detailed design documents that can serve as technical references
- You describe yourself as resilient and self-motivated, and possess assertiveness balanced by openness to others' perspectives and insights
- A blend of technical expertise, critical thinking and effective communication come naturally to you to ensure the efficient and flawless delivery of digital content to our users.
